Write the numbers in words in Spanish: here.
Pay attention:
» The Spanish number "one" may take three forms: "un / una" when the number comes before a noun (masculine or feminine) and "uno" when it is not accompanied by other words, this form refers to a masculine singular noun.
Example:
Algunos animales se escaparon, un tigre continúa perdido.
(Some animals escaped, a tiger is still lost.)
Ella compró una docena de huevos.
(She bought a dozen eggs.)
A: ¿Tienes un lápiz para prestarme? B: Sí, tengo uno.
(A: Do you have a pencil I can borrow? B: Yes, I have one.)
» Up to 30, numbers are written as just one word "trece, veinticinco, veintiocho" and after the number 30 the particle "y" is used only between full tens and units: "ochenta y cinco, cuatrocientos cincuenta y siete, mil ciento treinta y seis".
» Hundreds agree with the gender of the noun they refer to.
Example:
Cuesta trescientos pesos mexicanos. / Cuesta trescientas pesetas.
(It costs three hundred pesos mexicanos. / It costs three hundred pesetas.)
» The number "cien" is used only for a complete hundred (100). If it is followed by tens or units, it becomes "ciento".
Example:
Ciento diez. Ciento cincuenta. Cien mil.
(One hundred and ten. One hundred and fifty. A hundred thousand.)
» With millions, preposition "de" is used, but the preposition isn't used if there is a number after the million.
Example:
Cincuenta millones de habitantes.
(Fifty million people.)
Cincuenta millones quince habitantes.
(Fifteen and fifty million people.)
» In Spanish "un billón" is a million of millions: 1 000 000 000 000.
